Visiting Artist / Kenny Scharf

May 14, 2018

This April, Los Angeles-based painter, sculptor, and performance artist Kenny Scharf visited MCAD. Scharf gave a lecture on MCAD’s main campus, and then stopped by the MFA studios for a visit with 2nd year MFA painter Reza Nejati-Namin.

“Born in 1958 in Los Angeles, Kenny Scharf’s ambition as a professional artist is to maintain the course that he set thirty years ago by establishing his work in the fields of painting, sculpture, and performance.

Every project he undertakes builds on his past experiences. His original approach is unchanged; it is a personal challenge to produce the best work possible every time. One very important and guiding principle to his work is to reach out beyond the elitist boundaries of fine art and connect to popular culture through his art. His personal ambition has always been to live the example.”

Thanks for visiting, Kenny!
