May Ling Kopecky ’22 – “Double Vision”

We want to congratulate May Ling Kopecky ’22 whose work “Double Vision” was accepted in the MFA online exhibition titled “COHORTS: alone – together.”

This is an international online exhibition sponsored by the MFA Art program at the University of Montana. This is the 7th year of the annual exhibition, and they had 690 applicants from 102 different colleges and universities. The competition was ferocious (a little over a 7% acceptance rate).

This exhibition is a true peer-to-peer evaluation of MFA artwork being made today.  It represents work from a vast array of content, material and approaches of graduate students across North American, South America, the Middle East and the UK. “As graduate students we are experiencing a unique time in our lives; it is a time of transition, inquiry, artistic growth, intense creation and struggle. It is in this period we are surrounded and nurtured by faculty and peers. But in today’s world that community can be distant and make us often feel alone. This exhibit represents the excellent work being produced by graduate students today and reflects our shared experiences through these crazy times” stated the MFA student-jurors from the University of Montana and Montana State University.

Organizers hope through this exhibition, graduate students become familiar with their peers artwork, better understand the context of their field and make connections for the future. The work is being posted daily on @mfa.online.exhibition, and here is a link to the website: http://mfaexhibitiononline.org/cohorts-alone-together/
