BIO
As an artist I am continually pairing distinct forces and objects in portrayals of competition and tenuous coexistence. In my earlier work I paired mechanical elements with organic forms. These kinetic objects demonstrated a visual competition, and a question was being posed to the viewer. Are we in control of our constructed machines, or are the machines controlling us?

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY & MENTORSHIP
In the one-to-one relationship of mentoring I have spent time building skills, sharing professional experiences, and having meaningful discussions with my mentee/graduate student. I enjoy the flexible nature of this type of teaching, which can vary from basic critiques of a mentee’s work to visiting locally based artists. I believe in keeping a mentee on track with their goals as well as being flexible in how academic paths can change.
