Alumni Highlight / Anna Leigh Biedenbender ’16 in “Prisca”

March 2, 2017

This February, MCAD MFA painting and drawing alum Anna Leigh Biedenbender ’16 is showing new work in a solo exhibition at the Bethany Lutheran College Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center in Mankato, Minnesota. The show is titled Prisca and included an artist lecture and opening reception on February 16.

Interested in the human condition and one’s ability to be vulnerable and empathetic with others, Biedenbender works to “dissolve figure/ground relationships into compositions of gestural line and mark.” Her compositions “have tensions between figuration and abstraction, and fluctuate between the ephemeral and the concrete.”

Biedenbender is currently based in the Twin Cities and works out of her studio in the Northrup King Building in NE Minneapolis. She has previously worked with the Soo Visual Arts Center in Minneapolis and the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network in Wisconsin

Prisca runs until March 25, 2017. If you are in town, check it out!
