Visiting Artist / Sofia Carillo

December 4, 2017

Filmmaker Sofia Carillo visited the MFA studios this November to meet with 1st year MFA animator Hallie Bahn. Carillo was in Minneapolis for Cine Latino. Now in its fifth year, Cine Latino is “among the key showcases of Ibero and Latin-American cinema in the United States. This year, screenings and events will took place at the Film Society’s hub, the St. Anthony Main Theatre in Minneapolis MN.”

The 2017 selection of films at Cine Latino had a focus on Mexican cinema. Carillo had “three animated shorts showing at Cine Latino: Prita Noire, about two sisters sharing their lives in a strange place; La Casa Triste, the story of a family told through objects found in flea markets and junk shops; and Cerulia, in which a girl makes a trip to say goodbye to her childhood home, but her memories and her grandparents’ presence won’t let her go.”

Thanks for visiting, Sofia!
