For over ten years, Jason Kernevich and Dustin Summers have been working together as the Heads of State. They’ve created award-winning posters, book covers, branding, and illustration for a diverse and impressive list of clients.

In 2012, they launched Pilot and Captain, a design venture focused on creating tee shirts, posters, and products inspired by the golden age of travel. They lecture frequently about their work and process and teach graphic design and illustration at Tyler School of Art where they both studied.

Their client list includes: Apple, Starbucks, Subaru, IBM, the New York Public Library, Miller Brewing, Columbia University, Penguin, Wilco, the New York Times, American Express, Time Magazine, R.E.M, Williams Sonoma, and Pentagram.

The Heads of State have received numbers of national and international awards including: Communication Arts Illustration and Communication Art Typography, Cannes Gold Lion Award, Society of Illustrators, Print Regional Design Annual, 50 Books 50 Covers, Type Directors Club, and American Illustration.
