Nick Rivers / 2016 Thesis Candidate

April 27, 2016

Nick Rivers’ work deals with violence, destruction, love, and creation. He considers gestures between the specific toward the universal, then examines displacement and dislocation in the world and himself. Being concerned with evidence and the mark, he creates gestures of things occurring, things which occurred, and things yet to occur.

In Nick’s words, “we are all related. All things are in relation to one another. The core of my work is grounded in this belief . . . Can the artist be the medium, the poet, the philosopher? I believe yes.”

Be sure to join us on Friday, May 13th at our new MFA Graduate Studios to enjoy Nick’s thesis work along with the other 2016 graduates.
