Alumni Highlight / Kelli Nelson at Silverwood Park

July 19, 2018

On Thursday, June 14th, MFA alum Kelli Nelson ’13 exhibited her solo show, The Other Side of Nowhere, at Silverwood Park.

From the artist, “The Other Side of Nowhere is a series of oil paintings that rest precariously between actuality and imagination, evoking enigmatic images of plant life, landscape, and organic forms. The paintings are made from memory and invention, resulting in a spectrum of abstraction. Nelson uses the inherent ambiguity of abstraction in an attempt to expand our boundaries of emotion and thought, and reality and perception.”

Kelli Nelson is a Minneapolis-based painter and educator whose work is in numerous private collections, the University of North Dakota Permanent Art Collection, and has been exhibited at the State Capitol Building in Bismarck, ND. Nelson is represented by Ecce Art Gallery and has taught Drawing at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and Painting at the College of Saint Benedict.

The Other Side of Nowhere will be on view from June 14th to July 31st. The galleries are open to the public daily from 9 am – 8 pm.
