Sishir Bommakanti / 2018 Thesis Candidate

April 24, 2018

Sishir Bommakanti is an illustrator with a focus in editorial and publication. He produces complex narratives that can communicate with his audience in an elementary manner. Bommakanti’s intention is to provide a dialogue with those who view his work, then invite them into the intricate nuances of the image through storytelling.

Bommakanti approaches illustration and storytelling through experimental, alternative, and topological modes of narratives. His thesis explores illustration through a grand-scale, open-world narrative and provides commentary on a variety of societal and political issues through metaphorical storytelling. Using mythology as a narrative structure, he produces virtual worlds and events that are contained within a cartographic structure, providing a constellation of stories that can be observed on a micro or macro scale.

Be sure to join us on Friday, May 11th from 6-9pm at the MFA Graduate Studios to enjoy Sishir‘s thesis work, along with the other 2018 graduates!
