December 2014 Graduate Candidate, Miao Yihui, presented her Thesis and Exhibition Project Proposal to the MCAD community in preparation for her MFA Thesis Exhibition this December.

“After studying visual communication for some time, I realize that “Design,” to me, is not only about how to precisely apply a format, but also relates to the cultural background of the subject. I am excited about combining the conceptual and experimental processes I use to expand my vocabulary with the more systematized and narrative goals I have for my traditional design projects. I am interested in breaking through the limitations of comprehending traditional Chinese culture using contemporary perspectives. I want to highlight my own design style and pay more attention to narrative and specific meaning of visual communications, integrating the experimental within a narrative-­driven work.”
