Anna Leigh Biedenbender / Dissolved and Shaken

November 4, 2015

Second-year painter and drawer Anna Leigh Biedenbender recently showed Dissolved and Shaken, an exhibit of work from 2014 and 2015, at The Grand Center for Arts and Culture in New Ulm, MN. Taken from May Sarton’s poem “Now I Become Myself,” the title reflected the artist’s struggle for clarity of thought and memory, and acceptance of ambiguity in the work.

Biedenbender also gave multiple artist talks to the public during the opening, to over 100 students in grades 5 to 8 from St. Paul’s Grade School, and to the AP Art class and Art Club students of Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School. Discussion ranged from the progression and content of the work to the Twin Cities’ art community, to applying to art school.
