Alex Mitchell / 2016 Thesis Candidate

April 29, 2016

Alex Mitchell tells stories.

Sometimes he tells his own stories, and sometimes he tells the stories of others. Thematically, Alex’s interests tend toward explorations of myth, mystery, and the creation of meaning through narrative. If myth is order—the cause and effect of the world, the description, delineation, and development cosmos (literally the opposite of chaos)—then mystery is the negative space of that intricate design—the unexpected, the unexplained, the unique.

Alex is  particularly interested in the way we employ myth and mystery to tell stories about ourselves and our world, thereby constructing identity and reality through narrative.

Be sure to join us on Friday, May 13th at our new MFA Graduate Studios to enjoy Alex‘s thesis work along with the other 2016 graduates.
