Alanna Stapleton + Alex Mitchell / Winterland at Light Grey Art Lab

February 2, 2018

Last Friday, the opening reception and pop-up sale for Winterland provided a place to celebrate exceptional makers and their craft. Winterland, the newest exhibition at Light Grey Art Lab, “showcases work that blur the lines between product design and art, craftsmanship and aesthetics. Winterland focuses on the processes behind the craft, the ethos driving the makers to explore the materials and forms they create, and the experiential aspect of consumable works by those that use the items. The exhibition includes ceramic, leather, and wood goods, jewelry, cosmetics, handcrafted furniture, screen prints, original artwork, sculptures and more! The brands and individuals showcased exemplify the spirit of creativity and innovation present in our local community.”

2nd year MCAD MFA illustrator Alanna Stapleton is one of the featured Winterland artists. Her collection of embroidered illustrations in the exhibition are all based on the concept of things that are sharp.

The opening reception for Winterland also included a pop-up shop. MCAD MFA alumni Alex Mitchell ’16 was one of the participating artists tabling at Light Grey Art Lab for the evening, selling prints, zines, books, and other illustrated wares.
